Searching for a natural insect spray for home use? Here is what this multi-insect spray is made of, where it goes, and how to apply it.
What it is. RIP BUG Multi-Insect Spray is a ready-to-use, essential-oil powered spray for surfaces, indoors and out. It comes in a 16 fl oz (480 ml) trigger bottle and needs no mixing. It is a surface treatment, not a skin product: the label is explicit that it is not sprayed on people or pets.
Where it goes. The label lists the places household insects travel and hide: behind appliances and cabinets, around trash cans, along window and door frames, vents and eaves, and in attics, basements and crawlspaces. Those edges and entry points are where a plant-based bug spray earns its keep, because they are where ants, roaches and their neighbours actually move.
What it is for. The label's intended list covers the usual suspects of a US household: ants, cockroaches, bed bugs, beetles, boxelder bugs, earwigs, flies, mites, moths, silverfish, house spiders, stink bugs, wasps, whiteflies and more, as printed on the bottle. One bottle, most of the list you would otherwise buy three products for.
How to apply it. Hold the trigger 8 to 12 inches from the surface and spray until wet, but not to the point of saturation or runoff. If you are treating a pantry, cupboard, cabinet or closet, empty it first. Let treated surfaces dry. That is the whole routine, straight off the label.
The precautions, plainly. This bottle carries real precautionary statements and we print them on this page in the label's own words: wear protective gloves, avoid breathing the mist, keep it off skin and out of eyes. A plant-based formula is still a formula. Treating it with the same respect you give any household product is part of using it well.
The practical details. It is made in the USA. This product has not been registered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency; RIP BUG represents that it qualifies for exemption under FIFRA. US shipping is free over $35, with an $8.00 flat rate below that, and a person answers at info@ubbrands.com, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 ET. Read and follow the label before use.
